BASW concerned about so-called ‘minor changes’ to Working Together

The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has submitted a strong opposition response to one of the proposed changes to Working Together which would see social workers not having to consult managers on certain assessment decisions. BASW has said there is a lot of concern among their members about changes to social work assessments that are listed as ‘minor’ changes to the document. They said their members are ‘vehemently opposed’ to the change and that it would leave social workers ‘exposed’. This is one part of the BASW’s response to the consultation on Working Together, which also includes opposition to the abolition of LSCBs and concern around the proposal of ‘approved agencies’ in the work of safeguarding children.
