Views sought on restraint and restrictive intervention for children and young people

The Government is consulting on draft guidance it has produced on reducing the need for consent and restrictive intervention for children and young people with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and mental health needs. The Department of Health is asking for views on how well the draft guidance helps settings and services to support children who are recognised as being at higher risk of restraint. The guidance applies to health and care settings, and special educational settings. The Department of Health and the Department for Education commissioned the Council for Disabled Children to draft the guidance. The consultation is open until 24 January 2018.
