Typology of modern slavery offences published

The Home Office has published an evidence-based ‘typology’ of modern slavery offences in the UK, based on research carried out on over 300 confirmed cases of modern slavery in this country. The typology identifies 17 types of modern slavery in the UK, setting out the characteristics of the victims, offenders and offences for each type. In particular, the researchers looked for how members of law enforcement, other statutory agencies, non-governmental organisations and communities may recognise the exploitation and tackle the different manifestations of the crime. The 17 types of modern slavery are grouped into four categories: labour exploitation, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation and criminal exploitation.
