Guidance released on care of unaccompanied migrant children

The Department for Education has published statutory guidance for local authorities and professionals who support unaccompanied migrant children and those who are victims, or potential victims, of modern slavery. The guidance replaces Care of unaccompanied and trafficked children: Statutory guidance for local authorities on the care of unaccompanied asylum seeking and trafficked children (2014). It sets out the steps that local authorities should take to plan for the provision of support for looked after children who are unaccompanied asylum seeking children, unaccompanied migrant children or child victims of modern slavery including trafficking.
