Social work with parents could boost life chances of children

The Chair of the Social Mobility Commission, Alan Milburn, has said that social workers can play a bigger role in improving the social mobility of children and families. Speaking at a social work training event, Milburn said supporting families to get the basics of parenting right has a part to play in boosting children’s life chances, and that social work has so far been missing from the wider debate on social mobility.
