Government launches national fostering stocktake

The government has launched a national fostering stocktake to review the status, role and function of foster carers in relation to other professions, and to look at how the experiences of young people can be improved. As a first step, the Department for Education is consulting on the current state of foster care in England and how the prospects of children in care might be improved through changes to fostering. They are looking for views from practitioners, academics, foster carers, children in care, and children and adults who have left care. The consultation is open until 6 June 2017.
