Child neglect to be examined in new joint inspections

A new series of joint inspections will examine how local partner agencies are working together to protect children living with, or at risk of, neglect. Six areas will be assessed in May 2017 and will involve Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMI Constabulary and HMI Probation. The inspections will look at how effectively agencies are working together to help and protect children from neglect. They will also evaluate the multi-agency response to a particular issue or theme. In particular, the inspections will focus on the experiences of children aged between 7 and 15 years old, who may be at a higher risk of going missing or being exploited, or who exhibit challenging behaviours in adolescence. Guidance has been published on how these inspections will work in practice.
